Francis Kiwanga

Mr. Francis Kiwanga is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Civil Society since March 2015. He is a dynamic, visionary, open minded, Civil Society and legal practitioner who excellently blended his legal and management professions to command high level management skills in the Civil Society Sector in Tanzania. Previously Mr. Kiwanga worked as the Executive Director of the Legal and Human Rights Centre and Matrix Consulting, the legal, tax and governance consulting firm based in Arusha which he co-founded. Having worked in the Civil Society in Tanzania for over 17 years. Mr. Kiwanga commands strong managerial skills and broad understanding of the development agenda, civil society government and the private sector in Tanzania and in the region. As an advocate of the High Court of Tanzania he has broadly practiced in areas of law, governance and human Rights for over 8 years. He has acquired extensive knowledge and experience in areas of good governance, accountability structures and social policy analysis. Mr. Kiwanga has also broadly consulted on Grants Management and resource mobilization, Corporate Governance and social enterprise, anti-corruption strategies and accountability systems, Public participation and democratic process. Mr. Kiwanga holds a Master of Business Administration, MBA from Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) Arusha and a Bachelor of Laws of the University of Dar es Salaam. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and serves as a member in various professional and association bodies including East Africa Law Society, Tanganyika Law Society, East Africa Grant Makers Association (EAAG) and Africa Philanthropy Network (APN).
