The new Constitution should ensure that people with disabilities have the right to free education in all levels, proposed Samwel Mapunda of the Disabled Farmers’ Association, based in Songea during a discussion forum on the draft constitution held recently in the Ruvuma.

The disabled ask for equality in employment when discussing draft constitution

“We would like to see the new constitution providing for equality in employment without segregating people with disability,” started off Francis Ngisso one of the participants during a three-day forum to discuss the new constitution draft in late August, which was organised by Association for People with hearing impairment (Chavita) Mkuranga branch.

FCS enables remote farmers, herders to participate in draft constitution

For the first time in history, hundreds of farmers and herders in the Northern Tarime District of Mara Region have participated in the new constitution making process.

The special groups were this time around able to discuss the draft constitution at a special forum organised by Tarime Farmers and Livestock keepers Association (CHAWAWATA) in late August.

‘The draft Constitution has left our issues behind’

Farmers and pastoralists at Magole ward, Kilosa district in Morogoro region have received the draft national constitution with growing discontents that the draft document has left most of their key issues of concern behind. They have therefore asked the Constitution Review Commission (CRC) to act on their concerns.

The groups raised their concerns during the new Constitution draft forum, which was organized by Morogoro Environmental Conservation Organization (MOECO).

CHAWATA gears for entitlement and due respect to people with disabilities

Members of the Disabled Association of Tanzania, (CHAWATA), in Dar es Salaam have articulated their concerns on clauses they regard as ‘not well featured’ in the new constitution draft. 

This transpired during a constitution forum organized by CHAWATA in late August through the funding from the Foundation for Civil Society (FCS).
